AffiMEDIUM® Linsmaier & Skoog Modified Basal Medium is formulated to contain the macro- and micronutrients, as well as vitamins described by Linsmaier & Skoog in 1964. The pH of the medium has been adjusted and buffered.
This medium is based on the standard Murashige & Skoog (MS) basal salts, supplemented with Linsmaier and Skoog vitamins. The pH of the medium has been adjusted and buffered using 2-(N-morpholino)ethanesulfonic acid (MES). In most cases, adjusting the pH is unnecessary; simply add water and any desired plant growth regulators (PGRs), gelling agents, or other supplements. The inclusion of MES helps stabilize pH fluctuations during the preparation and culture of the medium.
